Elders of Zion

serpentt.gif

IVOR requested that i post the song that he remembered me playing on the radio a wile back. I remembered the song that had clips from the WTO protests in Seattle but that was by The Elders of Zion that was about it.

Looking around I found little info about them exept for this articel on epitionic.com . Apparently “Elders of Zion, are comprised of ringleader and arranger/editor/processor Joel Schalit (formerly of the Christal Methodists, currently the editor of Punk Planet magazine), drummer Luis Illades (Pansy Division), guitarist/drummer Vance Galloway (house engineer at the experimental electronic label Asphodel), and keyboardist Phyllis Stein (The Fucking Champs’ Tim Green also provides some additional percussion). ” (exciting right?)

So here is the song IVOR wanted.

USA! USA! USA! USA!

OK. I am sorry this is not music related at all. But I have a new personal hero! BURKE KENNY, of Olympia, Washington and of BEARD TEAM USA!!!! (for moustaches, too)

burkebyzach.jpg

As part of team USA Burke attended the 2005 World Beard and Moustache Championships in Berlin. There he finished fifth on the category of “Full Beard, Styled Moustache.” Kenny was not to denied, a former pizza deliver professional, who now moved into a career in meat smoking, began training for the 2007 games in Brighton, England. Though long nights, intense training and dedication Burke took home the gold in his event for the good ol’ red, white and blue!

USA! USA! USA!

Kenny Burke I salute you.

You are living the American Dream!

IVOR lets start training!

I think Tyler from Totally Radd might already be on the team:

American Gladiators

url.jpeg

American Gladiators is coming back and man am I excited.

I was going to try out, but I couldn’t think of a good Gladiator name. (and i had to paint some shit w/ the kids)

It was so American! Phyiscal combat! Steroids! Spandex! It was what the Olympics would have looked like if an the USA invented them.

Remember the NES game for American Gladiators????

Do you remember that Joe Theismann hosted the first season??

Do you remember the NYPD vs. LAPD challenge?

Remember all the games? Didn’t they seam like their names were stolen from really difficult sexual positions?  The Eliminator, The Assault, Powerball, Breakthrough and Conquer, Hang Tough, Human Cannonball (do i need to go on?)

Thank the lord for ESPN Classic and late night reruns!

Thank the lord for NBC for bring it back to us!

Thank the lord for the greatest TV theme song not written by Mike Post.

enjoy

EVEN IF ITS BAD ITS GOING TO BE AMAZING! FUCK DANCING W/ THE STARS THIS IS REALITY TV!

Before the mars volta and before sparta there was at the drive in and things were great.

Right before their last album, their blow up and their breakup they rolled up to kxlu and played a few songs.

It was about a year before I started working up there but roomer is there was a lot of coke.

Enjoy.

So Much Good Stuff

OK so you know when there is a way to much good stuff and you freak out? Like the movie “A Time to Kill.” Its like they just keep piling on good stuff. Civil rights movie + race riot + Sandra Bullock +Matthew McConaughey + Samuel L. Jackson + Kevin Spacey + Oliver Platt + Joel Schumacher + Charles S. Dutton + Ashley Judd + BOTH DONALD AND KIEFER SUTHERLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
bw4.jpg
AHHHH it’s toooooo hot today!

Well I think there are two musical equitants to A Time to Kill:

The Mountain Goats + Thin Lizzy + R. Kelly + some skandanavian radio station:

Hes got a law and order shirt on and a wambat!!!

I have seen the Mountain Goats cover Thin Lizzy’s “The Boys Are Back in Town” a few times and they always throw in the chorus from R. Kelly’s “Ignition.” This seems to be the only recorded version I can find though. I am sure there are more out there and if you got them go a head and send um over.

The other is:

Rhymefest + The Foundations + Ol’ Dirty Bastard (a.k.a. Ason Unique, a.k.a. The Bebop Specialist, a.k.a. Big Baby Jesus, a.k.a. Big box of chili, a.k.a. Cyrus, a.k.a. Da King, a.k.a. Dirt Dog, a.k.a. Dirt McGirt, a.k.a. Dirty, a.k.a. Dirty Chinese Restaurant, a.k.a. Barney Kool Breeze, a.k.a. The Father, a.k.a. Freeloading Rusty, a.k.a. Joe Bananas, a.k.a. Michael (Can’t get off) Phipps, a.k.a. ODB, a.k.a. Ol’ Dirt Schultz, a.k.a. Ol’ Dirty Block, a.k.a. Osirus, a.k.a. Prince Delight, a.k.a. The Professor, a.k.a. Rain Man, a.k.a. Super Bastard, a.k.a. Peanut the Kidnapper, a.k.a. RJ Tha Mad Specialist):

rhymefest_full.jpgodb-3_sm.JPG

I love Big Baby Jesus there is sooo much to love! But after he died in 2004 I was sad because unlike 2pac, Dirt McGirt posthumus releses were less than supurb. Then last year on Rhymefest’s album Blue Collar, Osirus popped up to help out on the track Build Me Up. And it was great!

That’s all.

Enjoy.

The Circuit Side

radio

Ivor keeps poking me to post this. Anyway The Circuit Side was the greatest metal band that never was. Well they were, just not for very long. After the Need broke up and before Radio Sloan ended up playing w/ Courtney Love, Peaches and Le Tigre she fucking wailed in the Circuit Side. They played a few shows here and there, I remember a few and The Smell, 1. because they were epic and 2. because Clea DuVall was there and I really liked The Faculty. They also opened for Le Tigre once out at the Glasshouse, and they built a castle that spewed smoke! So metal! Almost as metal as Radio’s Judas Priest tattoo! So yeah they never really put anything out except this 4 track lo-fi demo they sold at shows. There was word that they were going to put something out on 5RC or KRS, but I have no idea what happened with that. Well enjoy the demo.

Hip Hop Across America

devin

So after living in the ATL for 2 months people keep asking me about the hip hop there. It was mostly annoying people yelling at me to dance. The entire time I was there the best track I heard was this Devin The Dude (tx) song “What a Job This Is” featuring Snoop Dog (ca) and Andre 3000 (ga). It’s a song for a hot day, a cold beer and lots of weed.

The song is great till Andre starts talking about how it’s wrong to download music for free of the Internet. He asks if we would like it if he would show up to our BBQ and take a couple kernels of corn off our cob. Well yes, yes I would like it. Really is there anyone in America that would be sad if Andre 3000 showed up to your 4th of July BBQ and swiped a bite of your corn. I think if he did it might be my best BBQ ever! So Andre you are invited to the KXLU BBQ today, and you can help yourself to my corn, and I’ll keep stealing your music, deal? DEAL!

andre

Please Mr. 3000 just take the whole thing!

I Make It Rain

rain

I usta think that only the good Lord had the powers to make it rain.

Working a job where I am bombarded by mainstream hip hop all day has shown me that that is not the case.

Fat Joe and Lil’ Wayne can “Make it Rain.” Except they make it rain something even better than water. They make it rain $.

They have also taught me that making it rain $ is how to get women to like me!

They make it rain so much $ they warn bitches to grab their umbrella.

I have taken my lesson from Fat Joe and Lil’ Wayne and applied it to other lessons I have learned about bitches. If there is one thing that bitches love more that $ it’s silly French guys.

So here are some silly French guys covering Fat Joe and Lil’ Wayne’s “I Make it Rain.”

(i know nothing about this song or who is even covering it. i was soul seeking for the laker’s rap and some how i got this enjoy)
