Falcon Friday From The Farm!

That’s right, I hit the road with a crummy laptop, to bring you the first remote Action Figure Show! This trip is a special one, a reunion of old pals from highschool. We met out in the soy bean fields of Eastern Arkansas, to catch up on life, recall old stories, do some drinking and of course share music. My guests, Shawn McDaniels & Eric Manze are two of my greatest friends, they brought some music to table. The sound is horrible, we were literally in the living room of a BIG ASS FARM HOUSE in Gilette, Arkansas, but the music is there! A remix of a Robert Miles song, “Children” a Soulwax remix, all mashed up with my samples from my personal cassette tape collections, we also visit some Children of Bodem… If you can get through the entire show, there is a very special treat at the end. A bootleg from a cable access show that aired in the 80′s, featuring a one Allen Gillette, singing Ave Maria… it’s really inspiring! A RE-Broadcast | HEALTH in studio @ KXLU 88.9 fm.

This is a RE-Broadcast of a radio show I did earlier in the week on KXLU 88.9 FM, an independent radio station located in Los Angeles, CA. Jupiter and Jake of HEALTH came up to the show (with a copy of the NEW CD) and I spoke with them on air about touring, palindrome, and the upcoming CD release show @ the Smell… This was the first time I have ever interviewed a band & lucky for you we are pals, or this would have gone been terribly wrong… more wrong that it already is… I wish I had been loaded… but alas, KXLU is not my home studio and it’s against FCC regulations to be tanked and operate the board. So… The show ran from 2 – 6pm pacific coast time, everything you are about to hear went out live, some of it has been edited for brevity…ENJOY!

HyJacked! The Action Figure is Brutally Over Run by The Schmeed

What can I say? My show was hyjacked by the wonderful Timothy James, aka The Schmeed, from the equally wonderful rock band, The Movies.. Check them out. He stopped by just as I sat down to compose this show. Needless to say, it was a blast. We got loaded, and listened to music, talked about nothing, and then fell asleep. The shows music is dedicated to the great LA hip hop group, LA Dream Team, no I’m not talking about some Lakers Championship Team doing a rap music video, ala Chicago Bears & The Superbowl Shuffle, these guys were hip hop pioneers. Here is what I found out about them at All Music.

“Rudy Pardee, a Cleveland native, and Los Angeles’ Chris Wilson formed the L.A. Dream Team in the early ’80s. The times were rife with experimentation and the dance-rap hybrid of electro was still a new form — not yet firmly aligned with dance, with dance itself still capable of embracing hip-hop. Enterprising and resourceful, the duo formed their own label, Dream Team Records, that would go on to issue not only Dream Team records, but other early California rap as well, including the first single from J.J. Fad. The group’s electro classics include “The Dream Team Is in the House” and “Rockberry Jam.” In 1986, the group signed with MCA and recorded two albums with the label. Electro was fading from its brief mainstream popularity, however, and neither of the records sold well enough to sustain the group. L.A. Dream Team surfaced in 1993 as DTP to issue a few singles, including an update of one of their old hits, “Rockberry Revisited.” Chris Wilson went on to pursue video and music production, while Rudy Pardee died tragically in a scuba-diving accident”

Star Date… When… Scotty?

Hey All. It’s me, The Action Figure. And I have a confession. I’ve been fucking busy, really busy. But I’ve worked out a schedule, and this show WILL go live every Wed. or Thurs. as promised. Now, on to the show.
Well, I was really hung over when I did this, so everything is kinda blurry…

Hi, I am The Action Figure!

Hey Everybody!
Allow me to introduce myself! I am The Action Figure, and this is my very first podcast. I’m not exactly sure if you will be able to “subscribe” to my show just yet… As soon as I know, I will let you know, then we’ll both know, and knowing is half the battle. TUNE IN every week for a ‘hopefullly’ exciting audio adventure!

I’m kicking off my podcast with a variety stuff, like prank phone calls, answering machine tapes, I have hundreds of those actually, but more on that later, much later…

So, yea listen in, tonight I’ve got some Neil Young in there and some Evelyn “Champagne” King! The later of which I am really excited about. I discovered these disco singles at a thrift store in Los Angeles, and they are fucking radical, circa 1977!

The Neil Young stuff is nutty too, his “electronic” album, this was his attempt at getting the boot from Geffen Records, this one came out in 1982…
